Attenborough, David - Life Stories
I listened to some of the programmes in this series on the Radio and as always enjoyed the author’s style and content in these twenty 10 minute talks. So I was pleased to come across some copies of the book to accompany the series which not only has the verbal gems but enhanced with many colour photos. The giant arum Rafflesia is the only plant covered but the rest cover an exceptionally wide an interesting range of topics. 2009 10 x 7 ¾ 224 pages

McMahon & Fraser - A Fynbos Year
Just occasionally I come across a book that I feel is exceptional, and this is one. The charming paintings by Liz MaMahon of plants and animals are most appealing, and the text by Michael Fraser is fascinating – when I read “.. our first impression, that Fynbos looked much like the Scottish moorlands we had lately abandoned … On the day our motorbike was overtaken by a speeding Ostrich any remaining doubts were dispelled.” I knew this was something special! Although it covers all natural history, there is quite a large coverage of the plants. 1988 11 x 8 ½ 162 pages
